Force Touch on iPhone 6s will reportedly offer even more differentiation

The iPhone 6s is expected to have Force Touch added, but a new report has shed more light on what this feature could add to the user experience. According to 9to5Mac, Force Touch on the iPhone 6s will be called "3D Touch Display" as the smartphone will be able to not only differentiate between a tap and press, but also a deep press too.

From 9to5Mac:

"While the MacBook trackpads and Apple Watch act on two levels of pressure, the differentiation between a tap and a press, the new iPhones will actually differentiate and unique act upon three levels of pressure: a tap, a press, and a deeper press, according to sources. The 3D Touch name is therefore derived from the new Force Touch sensor's ability to sense three dimensions of pressure, rather than just two. This opens up the door to new user-interface tricks, such as shortcut gestures across the iPhone 6s version of iOS 9."

This new information fits into place alongside the focus shortcuts we previously reported on, which would enable the iPhone owner to simply deep press to activate the in-app menu, as opposed to hitting a dedicated on-screen button.

The next iPhone from Apple isn't far off, and you already know what we'd like to see in the iPhone 6s, so what would you want in the next iteration?

Source: 9to5Mac
