Survey -- 16GB 3G iPad The Most Popular

According to a recent survey of customers who were in line to purchase 3G iPads on Friday in New York, the results revealed that more than half were planning on scooping up the 16GB model, with its $629 price tag.  But despite that eagerness, practically none of them were planning on having the iPad take the place of their PC, said AppleInsider.About 75 customers were questioned on Friday, and 57 percent said they were planning on snagging the 16GB version, said analyst Maynard Um of UBS.  29 percent said they would get the $729 32 GB model, and 14 percent were going to get the big guy, the 64 GB model.Um went on to say that every 100,000 iPads sold results in about a penny for Apple's earnings per share.  On the heels of Monday's announcement of 1,000,000 iPads sold, that means more than 10 cents earnings per share for Apple's June quarter.Um conducted a similar survey of iPad buyers during the Wi-Fi only launch on April 3, and most, at 94 percent said that the iPad would not replace their computers.  Practically all would use the unit for browsing the Web, viewing of media content, and other entertainment uses.  A select few thought that they would use the device for reading."The survey further supports our view that the iPad will not cannibalize Macs & we continue to view the device as a largely incremental growth opportunity for Apple," Um wrote to investors Monday."We continue to view initial iPad strength as a source of upside to June (quarter) estimates, but note that magnitude of near-term unit upside will depend somewhat on manufacturing constraints, as Apple also noted that demand continues to outpace supply," Um continued. In other number goodies announced Monday, Apple said that more than 12 million apps and 1.5 million e-books were downloaded by iPad users.  Um said that as this environment continues to expand, sales of the iPad will continue to expand as well.  Apple needs to continue to increase its partners as well as offering more of a selection, for the iBookstore to continue to succeed. For those who have grabbed an iPad already, what's your intended use for it?  Are you planning on having it replace your usual PC of choice?  Feel free to leave comments below!
