SimCity Mac grand opening: August 29

Will it really happen? Will the latest version of SimCity finally make its debut for the Mac? Possibly—Electronic Arts announced through the SimCity Twitter account that the Mac version of the city simulation game will ship on August 29.

You can’t blame Mac gamers for taking the announcement with a grain of salt. When the game started shipping for the PC, Mac gamers eventually heard that the Mac version would be available in June. Then in June, the ship date was pushed to August. At this point, I’m taking a “believe it when I see it” approach.

SimCity for Mac includes the SimCity Launch Park, an area that was made available to early adopters of SimCity for PC in update 4.0.
You can pre-order SimCity for Mac though Electronic Arts’s Origin online store. The $80 Digital Deluxe version and the $60 standard version are available as digital downloads only.

SimCity requires an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or later, OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, and an Internet connection, even in single player mode.
