Reports: Apple eyeing luxury car maker McLaren to jump-start Project Titan

<p>The Apple car rumor mill has become sluggish in recent months, churning out nothing but staff shakeups and new hires (http://www.macworld.com/article/3099674/hardware/report-apple-special-projects-guru-bob-mansfield-takes-the-wheel-on-apple-car.html). But things just got interesting: Apple is reportedly in talks to buy Lit Motors, a startup that makes electric self-balancing motorcycles, and McLaren Technology Group, the British engineering company that makes luxury cars, develops advanced automative technology, and happens to own a Formula One car racing team.</p><p>Apple, McLaren, and Lit aren’t commenting on the rumors, first reported by the Financial Times (http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0%2F523422ba-7ffd-11e6-8e50-8ec15fb462f4.html) and backed up by the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/22/technology/apple-is-said-to-hold-talks-with-mclaren-and-lit-motors.html?_r=0). According to the Financial Times, Apple is interested in either buying McLaren outright or investing in the company.
