Beginner's guide: How to play Pokémon Go!

New to Pokemon Go and looking for some help getting started? Here's our beginners guide!

July 30, 2016: Pokemon Go has now been updated to version 1.1.0. The update includes the ability to re-customize your trainer, so you're not stuck with the first style you picked. Perplexingly, the battery saver feature has been removed. (Ugh!). The damage some Pokemon do in battle has been adjusted — sorry Vaporeon lovers! — and damage calculations have also been adjusted. Instead of fixing the "footprint" proximity system, they simply removed it. (Boo!). And there's the usual animation and performance improvements and bug fixes. Get the update from the App Store if you haven't already!
