Uber offers developer API to integrate car service in third party apps

[/url]

Uber (http://www.imore.com/tag/uber) has just announced a developer API, allowing developers to integrate the car service into their own iPhone (http://www.imore.com/iphone-5s) and iPad (http://www.imore.com/ipad) apps. Apps will be able to do things like send an address to Uber's own app, as well as display pickup times, provide fare estimates, and more.

You will even be able to request a ride within some apps, though this feature is rolling out in a limited fashion, according to Uber (http://blog.uber.com/api):

What about requesting a ride? Yes, we've implemented that endpoint as well, but because calling it immediately dispatches a real driver in the real world, we're releasing it in a more controlled fashion, starting with a small set of partners. Stay tuned for more on that, and please let us know if you're interested in being added to the whitelist.

Uber has already partnered with companies like OpenTable, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, and United Airlines. Certain partners are even offering customers money off on their next ride.

The API is available now for developers now. What apps would you like to see integrating the Uber API? Let us know below in the comments.

Source: Uber (http://blog.uber.com/api)
