Apple offers Greece a free month of iCloud to avoid data loss due to declined payments

[/url]

Greece remains in a dire situation regarding the country's finances, leading the Greek government to implement new regulations, including a block on renewing iCloud subscriptions and purchasing content from Apple's digital stores. Since consumers are unable to maintain their subscription, Apple has offered Greek iCloud users with a free month of cloud access.

An email from Apple to consumers in the region was obtained by iPhoneHellas:

"Dear iCloud customer,

To prevent interruption in your iCloud service during the current fiscal crisis, and to make sure you have access to your content, we've extended your iCloud storage plan for an extra 30 days at no additional cost.

We won't attempt to charge you for your plan until 30 days after your original renewal date. If we are unable to renew your plan, you may need to reduce the amount of iCloud storage you use.

The iCloud Team"

The move from Greece to block payments to Apple is part of a plan to prevent overseas payments and transfers to avoid banks from crashing. It's worth noting that should payments still not be made after the provided 30 days, the company recommends consumers to clear out their iCloud storage (to prevent data loss) and/or look for alternative services they are able to purchase.

Source: iPhoneHellas, via: 9to5Mac
