Apple lets iTunes users delete free U2 album from music library and purchases

[/url]

Apple has now posted an official procedure on how to remove the new, and at the moment free, U2 album Songs of Innocence from a user's iTunes music library and purchases. The company automatically added the album last week for people who access iTunes with an iPhone or iPad.

Here's the procedure in full:

Go to http://itunes.com/soi-remove.

Click Remove Album to confirm you'd like to remove the album from your account.

Sign in with the Apple ID and password you use to buy from the iTunes Store.

You'll see a confirmation message that the album has been removed from your account.

Apple notes that once the album has been removed from a user's iTunes account, it will not be available again for re-download or repurchase, so you had better be sure you don't want to hear the band's latest work. Apple adds, "If you downloaded the songs to iTunes on your Mac or PC or to the Music app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you'll need to delete them manually."

Apple also notes that you can hide Songs of Innocence from your iTunes purchase list, which is something that we have already written about. What do you think of Apple offering a way to get rid of this freebie?

Source: Apple
