iCloud and the App Store hit with widespread outage [Updated]

Attempting to log into the iCloud website results in a connection error message.<!--break--></p> <p>Others are also reporting that they cannot access the App Store at this time. As of this writing, Apple has not yet updated their System Status page (https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/) for their web services. This is the third major Apple service outage this year, following two disruptions (http://www.imore.com/app-store-and-other-apple-online-services-hit-extended-outage) in March (http://www.imore.com/app-store-and-itunes-store-see-glitches-and-broken-downloads-service-disruption).</p> <p><strong>Update:</strong> iCloud services appear to have been restored.
