Niantic just announced its departure from parent company Google (or Alphabet (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2970032/four-knowns-and-four-unknowns-in-googles-alphabet-soup.html), if you prefer) a few weeks ago, which seems like a much safer bet in light of today’s news.
