Whenever Apple releases a new product, you can always count on the folks at iFixit (https://www.ifixit.com) to get one and tear it down. The latest teardown (https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Smart+Keyboard+Teardown/53052) focuses on the new Apple Smart Keyboard for iPad Pro (http://www.apple.com/smart-keyboard/).

iFixit found that the Smart Keyboard is water- and stain-resistant mostly because of the “high tech fabric.” It completely covers the keyboard, leaving no gaps or spaces. This means that in order to get underneath the fabric, cuts and tears need to be made, making a teardown irreversible.

iFixit (https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Smart+Keyboard+Teardown/53052)

Once the fabric is removed, you can see that Apple uses the key switches similar to those found in the 2015 Retina MacBook (http://www.macworld.com/article/2908115/review-the-new-12-inch-macbook-is-a-laptop-without-an-ecosystem.html).

To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here
