How to replace icons badges with informative labels [Jailbreak Tweak]

“Badges? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges!” This quote from 1948’s, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre is often said, but also is exactly how I feel about those darn Apple badges. Yes, they were designed to help bring attention to new or unread notifications, but for most people, the constant reminder simply gets really annoying. But, you can swap out those badges with informative text-based labels, for a sleeker, less obtrusive notification.
