Everything you need to know about the iMessage security flaw patched by iOS 9.3

iMessage has flaws (http://www.macworld.com/article/3046083/ios/researchers-break-apples-imessage-encryption-will-be-fixed-in-ios-93.html) in how it protects messages, researchers at Johns Hopkins University explain (http://blog.cryptographyengineering.com/2016/03/attack-of-week-apple-imessage.html) in a paper released today (https://isi.jhu.edu/~mgreen/imessage.pdf), which can lead to effective, offline decryption of some intercepted messages.</p><p>
The researchers disclosed their work to Apple in November, and today’s release of iOS 9.3 (http://www.macworld.com/article/3046456/software/ios-93-is-ready-to-install-with-night-shift-password-protected-notes-and-more.html) and OS X 10.11.4 (http://www.macworld.com/article/3046435/macs/apple-releases-os-x-10-11-4-update.html) remove some exploits and make others dramatically harder to take advantage of. The paper’s authors include Matthew D.
