SMITE beta brings the MOBA brawler to Mac

Hi-Rez Studios has released an OS X version of its popular free-to-play MOBA game SMITE for Macs.  The game, which is officially in beta form, is available via Steam.

The game's official site has an FAQ page on the SMITE OS X beta. It states that the Mac and PC versions share the same player base. Also, the Mac version will use Steam Overlay and Achievements. In-game purchases are made via the Steam Wallet. The game does require OS X 10.10 be installed.

For those of you who might be unaware of SMITE, here's a quick description:

"Players choose from a diverse cast of deities and use their unique powers to triumph over the opposition in 5v5 team matches. SMITE is a new take on the MOBA genre; rather than observing from above the action, the game's third person perspective puts players into the thick of combat. Instead of clicking the mouse to move, players use the familiar WASD keys to move and fight their way through SMITE's dynamic battlegrounds."
