Super Mario is coming to the iPhone

Former Nintendo General Manager and current Creative Fellow, Shigeru Miyamoto, took the stage today at the Apple Event in San Francisco to talk about one of the most anticipated games every to hit the App Store: Super Mario.



Specifically, Super Mario Run, a new game featuring Mario, Toad, and many other popular Nintendo characters, will be coming to the App Store before it debuts on other platforms.

"We are incredibly honored that Nintendo chose to bring Super Mario to the App Store first," said Tim Cook on stage at the event. Miyamoto took the stage to talk about the game next to an interpreter and looked like he was having a ton of fun doing it.

While the game looks to be optimized for one-handed use, there will be a traditional mode that harkens back to the original NES and SNES titles that made Mario so famous.
