How to update from iOS 10 beta to the official release

You've been running iOS 10 in beta and now you want the real deal? Here's how to get back on the right track!

If you have been running the developer or public beta of iOS 10, today is the day to officially move into the public release. Apple might push the update to your device automatically, but you can manually download it if you prefer.

Before you start

I've mentioned this a lot, but can't stress it enough: Back up your iPhone before doing anything. You will not regret taking a few extra minutes to secure your important data, but you will regret losing everything if you don't back it up.

How to back up your iPhone or iPad via iTunes:

Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer.
Open iTunes on your computer.
Click on the Device icon to the left of the iTunes window.
Make sure the box Encrypt iPhone backup is ticked.
Click on Back Up Now.
