Internal Apple repair doc states 2018 MacBook Pro keyboard includes membrane to prevent debris from entering butterfly keys

An internal Apple repair document obtained by MacGeneration (https://www.macg.co/mac/2018/07/macbook-pro-2018-apple-reconnait-en-interne-le-vrai-role-du-clavier-modifie-103065) appears to be the most direct evidence yet that the silicone covers found (https://9to5mac.com/2018/07/13/ifixit-macbook-pro-keyboard-protection/) underneath each keycap in the 2018 MacBook Pro (https://9to5mac.com/2018/07/12/apple-macbook-pro-with-touch-bar-updated-with-max-32-gb-ram-improved-third-generation-keyboard-true-tone-and-new-intel-chips/) really is intended to make the keyboard more reliable, rather than ‘quieter’ as Apple marketed it.

In an article targeted at repair technicians, Apple writes ‘the keyboard has a membrane under the keycaps to prevent debris from entering the butterfly mechanism’. It also explains that spacebar design has changed and will require a new repair process.
