This is probably a sign that Apple is planning to launch the new iPhone in September rather than in October. We’ve already seen carriers like Sprint dropping the price of iPhone 4S by $50 and waiving the activation fee. But Macrumors now reports that they’ve received information that even Apple’s retail stores have been given authorization to match these discounted prices for iPhone 4S from approved major retailers and carriers.
