Get to know iOS 7: Calendar and Contacts
   




   

Like most of iOS 7, Calendar gets a minimalist makeover in the latest update. That means emphasis on lighter interface elements, thinner text, and a general lack of adornments. The Contacts app, meanwhile, features the same colors and simplified redesign as Mail and Messages, and offers a few new tweaks for iOS 7.

Even the icon gets a rework, losing the old skeuomorphic desk calendar look in favor of a simple day-of-the-week and date display. But the app also gets some other functional and aesthetic changes that users might welcome.

As time goes by

The major changes in Calendar come on the iPhone: Previously, when you launched the Calendar app there, it showed you a full calendar of the current month, with a list of events for the current days squeezed in below. If you wanted a different view, you could toggle between List, Day, and Month views using a toolbar.
