Apple Invests $390 Million in Finisar Which Supplies iPhone X TrueDepth Camera Lasers

As part of itsĀ Advanced Manufacturing Fund to support domestic companies in the U.S., Apple has invested $390 million in Finisar. This manufacturer is known for VCSEL (vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser) wafers that are used on the iPhone X for the TrueDepth camera system. VCSEL is also used on the AirPods where it detects when the earbuds are removed or inserted back into the case.
