Report: Instagram Direct to be rebuilt with Facebook’s Messenger tech

<p>We first heard about Facebook merging the chat features (https://9to5mac.com/2019/01/25/facebook-reportedly-plans-to-merge-whatsapp-instagram-and-messenger-chats/) between Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger back in January and we’ve seen the start of that work (https://9to5mac.com/2019/04/12/unified-messaging-service/) with the latest Facebook app refresh. Now a report from Bloomberg (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-07/instagram-s-chat-product-to-be-rebuilt-on-facebook-technology) says that Instagram’s chat feature will be rebuilt with Facebook Messenger’s technology.</p>
