‘Doomsday Vault’ impressions: A puzzler with an environmentalist message

<p>Note: The Apple Arcade column is being rebooted to cover the newest releases from <a href="https://www.macworld.com/article/3385024/apple-arcade-faq-games-price-compatibility.html" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Apple’s subscription gaming service[/url]. (We were using the name before Apple’s Apple Arcade was a thing.) Whenever there’s a new game, the Apple Arcade column will cover some first impressions based on around an hour of gameplay.</p><p>This isn’t looking like such a chipper year, is it? If it weren’t bad enough that Australia is burning and that the Middle East is once again looking like a powder keg, Apple’s first game of 2020 kicks off with the words, “Earth’s climate has collapsed.” Oh, and it’s called <a href="https://apps.apple.com/us/app/doomsday-vault/id1457773760" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Doomsday Vault[/url]. So much for escapism.
