Apple Confirms June 7-11 for Annual WWDC Event

App Store and Mac developers alike probably squealed with joy on Wednesday as Apple announced the dates for their annual Worldwide Developers Conference.AppleInsider is reporting on the details for WWDC 2010, which will be held June 7th through 11th at Moscone West in San Francisco. The five-day developer conference will be the first to feature dedicated iPad development sessions as well as hands-on events for iPhone OS 4 and Mac OS X."This year's WWDC offers developers in-depth sessions and hands-on working labs to learn more about iPhone OS 4, the world's most advanced mobile operating system," said Apple's senior vice president of iPhone Software, Scott Forstall. "WWDC provides a unique opportunity for developers to work side-by-side with Apple engineers and interface designers to make their iPhone and iPad apps even better."WWDC is also expected to be the venue where Apple will unveil this year’s iPhone hardware refresh -- although a lot of the air has potentially been taken out of that hot balloon this year by the controversial lost next-gen iPhone prototype already well-documented by Gizmodo and others. Apple used last year’s WWDC to announce the iPhone 3GS, which went on sale shortly thereafter. For developers, this year’s WWDC will be focused on five key technologies: Application Frameworks, Internet & Web, Graphics & Media, Developer Tools and Core OS. Apple’s own engineers will deliver more than 100 technical sessions and labs for developers who pay the $1,599 attendance fee.If you happen to be one of those developers, you can get more information and registration deals at Apple’s WWDC 2010 website. Cupertino will also be announcing five iPad and five iPhone Apple Design Award winners for this year; there is no requirement to enter and “winners will be selected from the App Store based on criteria that includes design, technical excellence, innovation, quality, technology adoption and performance.”
