Shedding Some Light On AT&T's Data Plan For The iPad

Did you happen to purchase a WiFi + 3G iPad during the pre-order time, but can't really remember what that data plan with AT&T entailed?  Let's dive in to the nitty gritty! It's actually pretty easy.  AT&T is offering up 3G pre-paid data plans for the iPad, which includes on-device activation and management.  Data plans for the unit will cover access to more than 20,000 AT&T WiFi Hot Spots across the country at no additional cost to you.  There's a couple options with the data.  There's no long term contract that's involved and 3G data access costs $14.00 a month for 250 MB of data.  Or if you feel you might consume more than that, it's $29.99 a month for unlimited data.If you opt for the smaller amount of data, the iPad offers up a warning to the user when you get close to your 250 MB of data.  There are three alerts - one at 20 percent, 10 percent, and then zero.  As each alert rolls in, you have the option to either add more data, or just wait it out until later. As part of the deal, one month will be equal to 30 consecutive days, starting at the day and time that you purchase data each month.  You do have the option to change your plan at any given time, and the ability to keep a keen eye on just how much data you consumed inside Settings>Cellular Data on the iPad.Then, once you sign up for your iPad 3G service, you also have the ability to add to or cancel your domestic plan at any moment, with no additional penalty.  For domestic plans however, if you don't cancel, the service in your plan will just automatically renew every 30 days.  Now, if you just by some chance happen to go over the amount of data that is in your plan, it will just expire.  You can then add either another one or wait until the 30th day from your purchase, and your plan will automatically renew on the domestic plan.Hopefully that clears up any confusion for our soon to be 3G iPad owners out there!via 9to5Mac
