Square's App Available for iPad, iPhone & iPod touch

If you've got an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, the man who brought us Twitter has an app, and indeed, a dongle for you. That's right, Jack Dorsey's latest startup, Square, is now available for all three Apple mobile platforms, and the best part? the App is free.Unveiled in December of 2009, Square is a hardware and application combo that gives users the ability to process credit card transactions on their iPhone, iPod touch and iPad through the use of a mission-specific dongle which plugs into their device's headphone jack. What's the catch? Well, so far there doesn't appear to be one. For the time being, if you sign up for a Square account, the hardware dongle will be sent out to you for free.If you're unfamilar with how Square works, TechCrunch posted a great video to the interwebz late last year:Given that Square already has some well placed competition from Verifone's iPhone payment processing system, it'll be interesting to see how this one pans out.
