Synaptics buys iPhone display chipmaker Renesas for $475 million

Synaptics, a maker of touchscreen chips, announced that it is buying the sole supplier of display chips for the iPhone at the price of $475 million, leading the company’s stock to jump 19% in extended trading. The company also announced that it is raising its revenue forecast for the fourth quarter — which is set to end on June 30th.
