Why Europe will likely say 'meh' to Apple Pay

The highlights of Apple’s recent new-product announcements (http://www.macworld.com/article/2604357/summary-apple-introduces-the-iphone-6-the-apple-watch-and-apple-pay.html) were certainly the iPhone 6 and the Apple Watch. But a big part of the presentation was spent discussing Apple Pay (http://www.macworld.com/article/2604353/applepay-aims-to-replace-your-wallet-with-an-iphone.html), the contactless payment system that will leverage the iPhone 6 (http://www.macworld.com/tag/iphone6/), and, eventually, the Apple Watch (http://www.macworld.com/article/2604309/meet-apple-watch-the-new-apple-smartwatch-with-a-clever-new-navigation-scheme.html). This is certainly a big deal, because of Apple Pay’s added security and ease of use.
