Apple's app pricing, ad skipping, and Google's iOS moves
   




   

We in the tech press tend to think of the summer as a slower time for technology news. This week seems to be the exception, thanks to three interesting Apple stories that crossed our desk. I'm joined by senior writer Lex Friedman to discuss these happenings in the world of Apple.

Apple released Logic Pro X, priced at $200 for new customers, while existing owners of the app get it for the discounted price of … $200. Contributor Marco Tabini wondered whether Apple is killing paid upgrades.


We also discuss the ongoing rumors suggesting that Apple wants to let the Apple TV skip television commercials.


And, hot on the heels of an impressive update to its Maps app, Google on Wednesday updated Chrome with some clever workarounds for iOS’s lack of support for specifying alternative “default” apps for things like email and maps.
