Apple's European Black Friday Sales Go Live with Discounted Prices, Not Gift Cards

Apple's online stores for a number of European countries have just come back online for Black Friday's one-day shopping event, and unlike in Australia and New Zealand where the company is using bonus gift cards rather than discounts as customer incentives, Apple's European stores are seeing the more traditional discounted pricing scheme.     Apple is expected to be using the gift card offer in the United States, and it is unclear why the company's European stores have stuck with discounts rather than moving to the new gift card scheme.   Examples of discounts include the following items (prices from UK store):   - iPad Air: Save £31-61  - iPad mini: Save £15 on non-Retina models, no discount on Retina models  - iPad 2: Save £25  - iPod touch: Save £25  - iPod nano: Save £11  - MacBook Air: Save £81  - MacBook Pro: Save £81 on both Retina and non-Retina models  - iMac: Save £81  - Apple TV: Save £15  - AirPort Extreme: Save £15  - AirPort Time Capsule: Save £25  - Various accessories: Discounts vary   Sales in Apple's U.S. and Canadian stores should begin at midnight Pacific Time.   Deals from third-party retailers may be even better than Apple's pricing for some customers, and we've summarized some of the best Mac and iPad deals over the past several days. We are also keeping track of deals on Apple products, accessories, software, and more in our Black Friday roundup.   Recent Mac and iOS Blog Stories • Thai Man Reportedly Electrocuted After Using a Charging iPhone 4S  • Seasonal Turkey Helm Now Available in 'Infinity Blade III' • iPhone 5s/5c Take 76% of Smartphone Sales in Japan for October • Magpul Releases Field Case for iPad Mini • GTA: San Andreas Coming to iOS in December With Full MFi Controller Support • iPad Illustration App 'Procreate' Adds Support for 64-Bit A7 Processor, 4K Ultra HD Canvas Size • Square-Enix Releases 3D Remake of 'Final Fantasy IV: The After Years' for iOS Devices • Google Chairman Eric Schmidt Posts Guide on Converting to Android from iPhone
