Artists will reportedly get social networking features in rumored 'Apple Music' streaming service

Apple's rumored streaming music service will reportedly be called "Apple Music" and offer social networking features for artists.

[/url]

According to a new report, Apple's heavily-rumored streaming music service will be called "Apple Music." Additionally, the service is said to include social networking features for artists, similar to Apple's abandoned "Ping" network that was included in older versions of iTunes. From 9to5Mac:

Taking a page out of the discontinued iTunes Ping feature from earlier this decade, the service will allow artists to have their own pages within the streaming music service that they can use to post track samples, photos, videos, and concert updates.

The report goes on to mention that individual profiles will be limited to artists, but users of the service will be able to freely comment on posts that artists share. Additionally, users will also have the option to hide artist activity altogether.

According to previous reports, Apple is also working to secure exclusive album releases for its streaming music service, which the company is expected to debut at WWDC 2015. Though the service is expected to cost $9.99 per month, a report last week indicated that a free trial will be offered, and music labels could offer some tracks for free as well.

Source: 9to5Mac
