Apple makes its latest health hire from Sage BionetworksApple has hired Dr. Stephen Friend, the outgoing president of Sage Bionetworks, to aid it in ongoing health-related projects. A former cancer researcher, Friend will likely assist the company in its ResearchKit and CareKit efforts. He will remain a part of Sage Bionetworks as chair of its board of directors.

As chairman of the Board, Dr. Friend will continue to work with Sage at a strategic level while stepping away from responsibility for day to day operations. Dr. Friend has accepted a position with Apple Inc. where he will work on health related projects.
Friend will be replaced in his role as president by Dr. Lara Mangravite.
