How to add an emergency contact to your Apple Watch

Let your family know when you use SOS by adding emergency contacts.

If you're in trouble, watchOS 3 lets you trigger the SOS feature on your Apple Watch by pressing and holding the Side Button to call emergency services. (If you're worried about wrist-dialing EMS, you can also change this feature to require an additional right swipe after holding down on the Side Button.)

But it won't just call the local emergency line for your location — it'll also alert up to three of your contacts with a text message. If you want to set up emergency contacts for your watch, here's how to go about doing it.

How to add an emergency contact to your Apple Watch

Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
Select General > Emergency SOS.
Tap on Add SOS Contact.

You can add up to three SOS contacts on this screen; by default, these messages go to phone numbers, not iCloud addresses.
