Your Meta headset can now display the output of any HDMI or DisplayPort device

<p>Our lives are full of screens in this digital age but sometimes you can’t access them or you need a bigger one for your tired eyes. Meta announced a new app called <a data-i13n="elm:affiliate_link;sellerN:Oculus;elmt:;cpos:1;pos:1" href="https://shopping.yahoo.com/rdlw?merchantId=6f7ae225-b81d-43cd-a3c7-b24c85091f6f&amp;siteId=us-engadget&amp;pageId=1p-autolink&amp;featureId=text-link&amp;merchantName=Oculus&amp;custData=eyJzb3VyY2VOYW1lIjoiV2ViLURlc2t0b3AtVmVyaXpvbiIsImxhbmRpbmdVcmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy5tZXRhLmNvbS9ibG9nL3F1ZXN0L21ldGEtcXVlc3QtaGRtaS1saW5rLWxhdW5jaC8iLCJjb250ZW50VXVpZCI6IjZlZDVjNjM2LTQxOGYtNGEwOC04Mzk3LTA1YmZmOWM2ZmQyMSIsIm9yaWdpbmFsVXJsIjoiaHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubWV0YS5jb20vYmxvZy9xdWVzdC9tZXRhLXF1ZXN0LWhkbWktbGluay1sYXVuY2gvIn0&amp;signature=AQAAAdlWKDlDW2cpxHcrcFZBSaO7GJjY4C38Gbp2xBMf7RRR&amp;gcReferrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.meta.com%2Fblog%2Fquest%2Fmeta-quest-hdmi-link-launch%2F" class="rapid-with-clickid" data-original-link="https://www.meta.com/blog/quest/meta-quest-hdmi-link-launch/">Meta Quest HDMI Link for its Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro headsets that can connect any of your devices with HDMI or DisplayPort and send their output to your VR.</p>
<p>The HDMI Link app is available to download to your headset now from <a data-i13n="elm:affiliate_link;sellerN:Oculus;elmt:;cpos:2;pos:1" href="https://shopping.yahoo.com/rdlw?merchantId=6f7ae225-b81d-43cd-a3c7-b24c85091f6f&amp;siteId=us-engadget&amp;pageId=1p-autolink&amp;featureId=text-link&amp;merchantName=Oculus&amp;custData=eyJzb3VyY2VOYW1lIjoiV2ViLURlc2t0b3AtVmVyaXpvbiIsImxhbmRpbmdVcmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy5tZXRhLmNvbS9leHBlcmllbmNlcy83NDUyMTA2NDI0ODI0MzU3Lz9pbnRlcm5fc291cmNlPWJsb2cmaW50ZXJuX2NvbnRlbnQ9bWV0YS1xdWVzdC1oZG1pLWxpbmstbGF1bmNoIiwiY29udGVudFV1aWQiOiI2ZWQ1YzYzNi00MThmLTRhMDgtODM5Ny0wNWJmZjljNmZkMjEiLCJvcmlnaW5hbFVybCI6Imh0dHBzOi8vd3d3Lm1ldGEuY29tL2V4cGVyaWVuY2VzLzc0NTIxMDY0MjQ4MjQzNTcvP2ludGVybl9zb3VyY2U9YmxvZyZpbnRlcm5fY29udGVudD1tZXRhLXF1ZXN0LWhkbWktbGluay1sYXVuY2gifQ&amp;signature=AQAAAdt10b-cXOH4z-Zb9mf5nKa_0tQ23tpHjjYUdXFG7BZE&amp;gcReferrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.meta.com%2Fexperiences%2F7452106424824357%2F%3Fintern_source%3Dblog%26intern_content%3Dmeta-quest-hdmi-link-launch" class="rapid-with-clickid" data-original-link="https://www.meta.com/experiences/7452106424824357/?intern_source=blog&amp;intern_content=meta-quest-hdmi-link-launch">Meta’s App Lab.</p>
<span id="end-legacy-contents"></span><p>HDMI Link lets you watch videos, look at your computer and play games on the headset in your Quest headset from any device with a HDMI or DisplayPort output. You’ll need a UVC and UAC compatible capture card to use the feature and connect it to the device you wish to view and a cable ending in USB-C male to connect the card to your headset.</p>
<p>Wireless options like <a data-i13n="cpos:3;pos:1" href="https://www.engadget.com/oculus-air-link-wifi-vr-021425057.html">Quest Air Link or <a data-i13n="cpos:4;pos:1" href="https://www.engadget.com/xbox-cloud-gaming-lands-on-meta-quest-headsets-204929253.html">Xbox Cloud Gaming are still available on the Quest headsets and a little easier to use. However, HDMI Link can be useful if you’re in a space where you don’t have access to a solid Wi-Fi connection and can link up to devices that wouldn’t normally play nicely with a Meta Quest headset.</p>This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/ar-vr/your-meta-headset-can-now-display-the-output-of-any-hdmi-or-displayport-device-230714344.html?src=rss
