Apple holds on to its spot as the top U.S. smartphone manufacturer, according to comScore<div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p class="intro">Apple remains the top smartphone manufacturer in the United States, according to the latest data from research firm comScore.</p> <p>Between December 2014 and March 2015, Apple was the top smartphone manufacturer in the U.S., with 42.6% of all smartphone subscribers using an Apple device. That's up from 41.6% in December, likely due in part to the arrival of the
iPhone 6 and
iPhone 6 Plus.<!--break--> They were followed by Samsung at 28.3%, with LG at 8.4%, Motorola at 5%, and HTC at 3.8%.</p> <p>In terms of operating systems, Android is still out in front, though it dipped slightly to 52.4%. iOS rose to 42.6%, up from 41.6% in December. Windows Phone held the third spot, with a slight increase from 3.4% down to 3.3%, and BlackBerry dropped from 1.8% down to 1.6%. Symbian still sits in fifth place, staying constant at 0.1%.</p> <p>In the U.S., 187.5 million people owned smartphones, up 3% from December. The ten most popular apps for smartphone owners in the first three months of 2015 were Facebook, YouTube, Google Play, Google Search, Facebook Messenger, Google Maps, Pandora Radio, Gmail, Instagram, and Apple Maps.</p> <p>Source:
