Apple's found their car quality expert and he comes from Fiat Chrysler

Rumors of Apple's entry into the car space have heated up again thanks to a new hire: Doug Betts, an auto industry executive who previously called Fiat Chrysler Automobiles home. From The Wall Street Journal:

Doug Betts, who led global quality at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV until last year, is now working for the Cupertino, Calif.-based electronics giant but declined to comment on the position when reached Monday. Mr. Betts' LinkedIn profile says he joined Apple in July and describes his title as "Operations - Apple Inc." with a location in the San Francisco Bay Area but no further specifics.

There's a lot that remains mysterious about Apple's Project Titan, the code-name for the company's ongoing research and development around automotive technologies.

Whether or not an Apple Car ever ships, and in what form, only time will tell. For now, it looks like Apple is making sure they have the right people in the right place to give the company the best shot possible.

It took six years to go from iPod to iPhone and eight years to go from iPhone to apple Watch, though, so we'll likely have to wait awhile before we see what Apple's working on in their South Bay garages.
