Apple voices its support for the anti-discrimination Equality Act<div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Apple has expressed its support for the newly-introduced Equality Act, a new anti-discrimination bill currently under consideration by the U.S. House of Representatives. While Apple CEO Tim Cook often
speaks up on equality issues, the involvement of the company itself is a bit less frequent.</p> <!--break--> <p>The company voiced their support for the legislation in a statement to the
Human Rights Campaign:</p>
<p>"At Apple we believe in equal treatment for everyone, regardless of where they come from, what they look like, how they worship or who they love. We fully support the expansion of legal protections as a matter of basic human dignity."</p>
<p>Apple was joined in its support of the bill by Dow Chemical and Levi Strauss & Co. The bill would establish legal protections for members of the LGBT community that would prevent them from being fired, denied services, or evicted from their homes based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.</p> <p>Source:
