Apple TV set-top box. The VideoLAN team is working to develop their popular, and free, VLC media player app so it will work on tvOS.</p> <!--break--> <p>VideoLAN's lead developer Jean-Baptiste Kempf quietly posted the reveal on his blog:</p>
<p>"Finally, some code to build VLCKit for the new tvOS was merged. It's very early though, but we have video playback!"</p>
<p>There's no word on when VLC will be launched for the new Apple TV, but since the set-top box itself isn't due for release until sometime in late October, the VideoLAN team would seem to have some time to develop it before it launches.</p> <p>Source:
