But you don't have to wait until your best friend gets their very own iPhone 6s or 6s Plus to send them your treasure trove of moving pictures: Any iOS device running 9.0 or later can view them, as well as OS X users running El Capitan.</p> <p>(And if you want to share your Live Photos with your non-Apple-using friends, you can always turn them into GIFs or upload them to Instagram.)</p> <h2>How to view Live Photos on an older iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch</h2> <p>If an image in a text message conversation has a white bullseye image in the upper left corner, this means it's a Live Photo.</p> <ol><li><strong>Tap</strong> on an image with the Live Photo icon in its upper left corner to preview it.</li> <li><strong>Once</strong> the full viewer opens, tap and hold on the image until it shimmers and begins to move.
