Tim Cook joins council of CEOs tackling environmental issues in China

<div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Tim Cook is joining the CEO Council for Sustainable Urbanization, a group sponsored by the Paulson Institute and the China Center for International Economic Exchanges. <!--break--> The main thrust of the council is to encourage and promote sustainable development in China as the country becomes increasingly urbanized. Speaking on joining the council, Tim Cook said the following:</p>
<p>"Apple is committed to running our global operations on 100 percent renewable energy and we're working hard to reduce emissions throughout our global supply chain," said Apple CEO Tim Cook. "We look forward to participating in the CEO Council's effort to advance China's green transformation and hope to do our part in helping China reach its climate goals."</p>
<p>In all, the Council for Sustainable Urbanization is comprised of 17 CEOs, including Walmart's Doug Mcmillon, Alibaba Group's Jack Ma Yun, and IBM's Virginia M. Rometty. The council will hold its second annual meeting on October 22 in Beijing, and it stands to reason that Tim Cook will be in attendance.</p> <p>Source: Paulson Institute</p> </div></div></div><br clear='all'/>
