Apple reportedly acquires education-focused startup LearnSproutAccording to a new report, Apple has scooped up an education startup called LearnSprout, whose dashboard software allows teachers and school administrators to track student performance.. As Bloomberg notes, LearnSprout's software is already in use at more than 2,500 school districts around the country. When asked about the acquisition, Apple gave Bloomberg its standard response: Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans. It appears Apple is making a more concerted effort for the education market as of late. In iOS 9.3, for example, Apple is making a number of education-related improvements for iPads, including a new classroom app for teachers, better device management for administrators, and the ability for students to load their Apple ID and information on any iPad the school owns.
