Well, we've had time to calm down after the big iPad release and the
announcement of iPhone OS 4.0 quickly followed by the release of the new
MacBooks. So it's been a pretty heady last few weeks. Let's all take a
couple deep breaths, relax, and gird our loins for the upcoming iPad 3G
release. As we're girding, however, what better way to relax with

can be set to automatically sort downloads, so .mp3s end up in iTunes

First Look: Adobe Photoshop CS5 - It's the 20th anniversary, and you
just know Adobe's been cranking it extra hard to make CS5 one of the
sweetest updates to everyone's favorite digital publishing, photo
editing, website creation software. Content aware fill is probably the
best example of how cool this is, but they didn't stop there. Have a
look at some of the goodies we uncovered.-
Bento for iPad - You knew it was coming. For lovers of Bento for the
Mac, the big screen of the iPad just makes sense. It may miss a few
features, as do other software we've come to love on our desktops, but
as a mobile extension, it really can't be beat.News:From
our perspective, one of the biggest non-iPad related news was the
release of Opera Mini at the App Store. It's breezy fast, though it renders
pages weird, and none of your secure pages go through Opera's servers;
what's not to love? Now where's our mobile Firefox?...the folks at
Lifehacker share our love of Opera mini; can we say it again? Why not
Mozilla's Fennec now?...what is coming to the App Store hopefully, is
Boxee, as long as they can get some developers to join them; somehow we
don't think this is going to be a problem...after all, ABC's app for
watching their shows on the iPad has proved a bona fide hit; can Hulu
NOT be working on something? please....of course, still king of the apps
is none other than Doodle Jump which is crazy addictive.So
it looks like Google's firing right back in the big Apple/Google war as
they struggle to put together an Android based tablet....(not that this
stopped them from getting their Google app to the iPad PDQ)... but
Google willll have to move fast on their tablet because Apple stores are
struggling to keep the iPad in stock as demand has exceeded
expectations pretty hard....so hard in fact, that the poor international
market gets their release date pushed back....but don't waste your
money on an Apple branded iPad sleeve, when you could just as easily
make something sweet from a bubble envelope and some duct
tape....missing from the iPad lately? that file sharing we all saw in
the keynote. Maybe that'll turn up in OS 4.0...we'll definitely want to
see mobile traffic stats after that 4.0 release; the stats for iPad
release day had that handy device accounting for a full 5% of all mobile
traffic...because everyone loves their iPad and will love it more and
more if this analyst's predictions of 7 million sold in the next 12
months comes true...and you know who else loves the iPad? Yeah, sweet little old
ladies like Betty White and who doesn't love Betty White?Hardware
news was all the rage with the new MacBooks out there on the market and
they are flying off the shelves...which will definitely continue the
trend of Apple's PC market share growing and growing and growing...and
the new update for MacBook Pros' software is either a good thing
(getting some tweaks) or a bad thing (demonstrating that Apple may be
rushing releases timed to marketing more than quality); you be the
judge....at the very least we can say that these babies are turbo-fast,
especially the 15 inch core i7...although the the core i3 didn't make it
to the machines for the usual speed and battery power configuration
issues Apple usually cites in these cases...and finally Steve Jobs
himself comes out to reassure us that Mac OS X hasn't been forgotten in
all the mobile development that's been super important lately.
