How to troubleshoot your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

The fix is in! "It just works" is an ideal. The reality is "it just works until it doesn't — usually when you need it the most". Like any complex and sophisticated machines, the iPhone, iPad, and iPod can cause you any number of problems. In most cases, though, troubleshooting and fixing them is a straightforward affair. So, before you call Apple Support or visit your local Genius Bar, here are a few things you can try to get your devices and services "just working" again. As you read through, you may notice that many of the same troubleshooting steps apply to many different situations. That's why the old standbys of toggling settings on and off, rebooting and resetting, signing out and signing back on are considered "the old standbys". They work. In some cases, despite all of our best efforts, you'll encounter problems you can't fix on your own.
