Apple turns store logos green ahead of Earth Day; U.S. stores switching to paper bagsAhead of Earth Day next week, Apple is once again turning the leaf on its logo at 132 of its retail stores green. Apple is also stepping up its environmental awareness efforts in stores starting April 15, when store employees will start wearing new shirts that draw attention to environmental issues.
In addition to these efforts, Apple Stores in the U.S. will be switching from plastic bags to paper, confirming a previous report. The bags will be made out of 80% recycled materials.
Additionally, certain stores will be holding "Talks for Earth," that center on the environment and conservation. Other stores will have green-themed photo walks as well.
All of this is in addition to Apple's latest App Store initiative, Apps for Earth, in which app developers will donate 100% of select in-app purchases to the World Wildlife Fund.
