Preorder 3G iPads Get Marching Orders, Still on Schedule
You may have seen the news this morning that 3G-equipped iPad orders are now promised to ship by May 7th, but if you were one of those who placed an preorder, you’ll be getting yours earlier.Apple has been busy this morning sending e-mails to 3G iPad preorder customers in an effort to assure them that their “magical and revolutionary” device will still be shipping in “late April” -- despite a 30-day delay internationally and the new availability date of “ships by May 7th” on the company’s website.The full details of the e-mail are as follows:To Our Valued Apple Customer:Thank you for your recent order of the magical and revolutionary iPad 3G.We would like to confirm that your order will be shipped in late April as communicated at the time you placed your order. Unlike buyers of the Wi-Fi-only iPad who were promised delivery on April 3rd, the 3G-equipped buyers have no such date to anticipate -- such devices could ship tomorrow, or as late as April 30th.We’d place our bets on the latter, though: It wouldn’t make much sense for Apple to send out these e-mails now if they were just going to turn around and ship them this week (for instance), would it?
