How to partition your Mac to test macOS Sierra

The macOS Sierra public beta is here, but it's still beta software.

As exciting as the impending macOS Sierra public beta is, it's not worth bricking your primary computer just to test out a couple new features. But don't fret: If you don't have a second Mac to test on, you can use your primary machine without compromising your own user data by partitioning your hard drive.

We'll walk you through using the built-in Disk Utility software to split your hard drive and install macOS Sierra separately so you can still test it out without ruining your productivity.





Apple's 2016 software updates — iOS 10, watchOS 3, tvOS 10, and macOS Sierra — are currently available as closed developer previews and as public betas for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
