First introduced in 2016 on Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad, the Apple TV app offers users a one-stop shop where they can find television shows available on video on demand (VOD), media purchased in the iTunes Store, and much more. The app is getting a significant refresh in 2019 when so-called Apple TV Channels are introduced alongside Apple's Apple TV+ service. As part of the refresh, the app is arriving on macOS for the first time, plus select smart TVs and streaming boxes.
