Steve Jobs Kicks Off WWDC 2010 with June 7 Keynote

Apple Inc. announced this morning that WWDC 2010 will kick off on June 7 with a keynote address from CEO Steve Jobs.In a not totally surprising announcement on Monday morning, Apple has confirmed that CEO Steve Jobs will take to the stage for a keynote address at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Jobs missed last year’s keynote during his extended medical leave, with Senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller stepping in to take his place. This year’s WWDC kicks off with Steve Jobs’ keynote at 10am on Monday, June 7. Focused on providing advanced content for skilled developers across five key technology tracks, WWDC is an annual Apple event that’s become decidedly more mobile-centric since 2008, when Cupertino finally began allowing third-party developers to create apps for the iPhone.Last year’s WWDC saw the introduction of the iPhone 3GS, and on the heels of so many recent leaks, Apple is expected to officially announce the 4th generation iPhone at this year’s conference, likely during Steve Jobs’ keynote on June 7.With a successful U.S. launch of the iPad and the imminent international launch of the newest member of the iPhone OS-based family, this year’s WWDC sold out in record time: More than 5,000 developers gobbled up the costly tickets in only eight days.WWDC 2010 runs June 7 through 11 in San Francisco.
