Current Software For iPad Won't Allow Tethering

In the U.S., we are to at long last get tethering with the next iPhone OS update.  That would mean being able to hook up our iPads to our iPhone via tethering right?  Well, not so, according to AppleInsider.  One can thank software limitations, and not necessarily any form of AT&T policy believe it or not.AppleInsider had reached out to AT&T, and were told to check in with Apple because the iPad won't allow tethering via USB or Bluetooth."This is not a policy issue," according to an AT&T spokesperson that spoke with AppleInsider.Going back to Apple's listed information on tethering for the iPhone 3GS using iPhone OS 3.0 and beyond mentions one can only tether through a USB cable or Bluetooth.  But tethering has not been available on AT&T's network prior to the pending release of OS 4.0.Of course, future software updates could change this.  Some possibilities being spoken of is Apple might add on tethering to the iPad in a future update or even allow the iPhone software to tether over Wi-Fi.  We will certainly find out more as WWDC gets closer!Image courtesy of areacellphone.com
