Expo Notes: Moshi IonBank offers power reserves

If you’ve got an iPhone, iPad, iPod, or other USB-charged gadget, there are surely times when you’re nowhere near an outlet but still need some extra juice. Accessory maker Moshi is previewing a solution this week in the form of the upcoming IonBank Lithium-polymer battery.

The IonBank will be available in the second quarter of the year in two capacities: a 10,000mAh version for roughly $100 and a 5,000mAh version for around $60. The company estimates that the 10,000mAh model will be able to charge an iPhone 5 three or four times, or a full-size iPad one to two times.

Both models charge using a built-in USB cable and provide two USB-power ports. The 5,000mAh IonBank will also include a built-in Lightning-connector cable to allow it to charge Apple’s latest iOS devices without requiring a separate USB-to-Lightning cable. Circuitry in the IonBank will automatically determine the charging needs of any connected device(s) to provide the optimal power output for each.

Each IonBank will also include a soft carrying pouch. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here
