The heartbeat of AmericaThis week's roundup of iOS accessories includes a device that will record your heartbeat, another that makes your iPhone movies look more professional, and, of course, a number of Bluetooth speaker systems.AliveCorThe $199 AliveCor heart monitor records and displays a single-channel ECG measurement on your iPhone. It’s not a toy, though: You’ll need a prescription from your doctor just to purchase the device.Altec LansingThis venerable audio company is back with the $99 SoundBlade, a portable wireless Bluetooth speaker that can stream your music for up to six hours on a single charge. It’s also usable as a speakerphone in conjunction with your iOS device. Most notably, the SoundBlade eliminates confusion about whether your device is paired with the speaker by audibly telling you it is “powered on,” “in pairing mode,” and “powered down.”Boston AcousticsThe $149 MC100 Blue is a wireless Bluetooth speaker system that feature two high-performance, 3.5-inch, full-range drivers. It measures 6 by 15.8 by 5.3 inches—and weighs in a 4.5 pounds—so it’s designed more for semi-permanent shelf use rather than as a mobile system. The speaker comes with a wireless remote control. To read this article in full or to leave a comment, please click here
